Report a problem

Send a useful report from Jack and keep its reference code.

Send from the app

Use Report a problem at the foot of Settings or in the macOS Help menu. During setup, the corner link is available in beta builds. Report this on an error opens the same form with the error and screen filled in. Reporting also works before sign-in.

  1. Close sensitive content before opening the report, because Jack captures a screenshot of the window when the dialog opens.
  2. Describe what you were doing, what you expected, what happened and how to reproduce it. Leave passwords and private project content out of the description.
  3. Read the notice about the screenshot, recent chat activity, logs and setup diagnostics. A signed-in report uses your account email for a reply.
  4. Press Send and wait for the reference code. Keep it for follow-up with the team.

If sending fails

While sending, Jack gathers diagnostics. A failed send keeps your text. If you are offline, nothing is sent and Jack asks you to send again when online; the report is not queued for you. If it says Not sent, retry. If reporting is disabled or the app cannot open, email the team below.

For email, include your operating system, Jack and Runtime versions (shown in Settings/About), the steps, expected result and actual result. Include an existing reference code when you have one. The privacy and error-report guide explains what the app’s attachments contain.
