Tasks and schedules

Teach a repeatable task and arrange when Jack runs it.

Teach a task before scheduling it

Open What your coworker can do beside a chat, or its Trained tasks tab (Skills at higher experience levels). Teach a task in all projects or one project through a short interview about what to do and how. You can also ask a coworker to save a repeatable task from a chat. Teaching itself does not create a schedule.

Set or change a schedule

A project schedule belongs to one task in one project. Ask the coworker in that project’s chat to schedule the task, or open the task’s schedule editor.

  1. Choose every few hours, daily, weekly or monthly, then set the day and time. Hourly schedules can be limited to working hours and weekdays.
  2. Use the schedule row’s Pause or Resume control. Its menu offers Change time, Run now and Remove schedule. The project page also lists schedules and the next run.
  3. To schedule a personal task, ask in a personal chat. It must be an all-projects task and runs in that chat’s folder.

Keep the desktop app running

The desktop app runs schedules while it is open, including with its window hidden. Keep the computer awake, online as needed by the engine, and Jack running with a ready selected engine. The browser does not replace the desktop scheduler. Start at login in Settings can help keep Jack available.

After downtime, missed slots become one late run at the next launch. Setting or resuming a schedule starts from now; its first run is the next slot. Finished runs appear under Results in Needs you. A missing personal folder is skipped, and an archived project’s schedules do not run.
